Millionaires in Utah
February 3rd, 2005Mailing list companies have massive databases that include most consumers and businesses in the United States. You can target consumers by age, gender, income, interests, credit, location, subscriptions to specific magazines, and hundreds of other traits. I've done less direct marketing using mailing lists in the last few years than I did in the 90's with my first company, but I still like to receive free catalogs from the mailing list vendors.
Since I'm trying to get 300 investors in Utah to join FundingUtah.com, I decided to contact www.dunhills.com which has a nationwide database of millionaires (with home addresses) to see how many millionaires are listed in Utah. Then I called Dunhills to see if they could give me this data by county.

I'm thinking of renting this list and sending a direct mail invitation to invite these wealthy Utahns to join FundingUtah.com.
Once FundingUtah.com has hundreds of accredited investors signed up, we will probably start enabling startup CEOs to do online presentations to investors who express an interest in hearing a pitch.

Is this primary residence or just a residence in their name?
I'm thinking of holiday homes and such. I was surprised at the number in Box Elder, and I thought that Summit would have more . . .

The principals of one group I'm working with would be thrilled to talk to entrepreneurs in Utah. They'd be thrilled to talk to anyone. At this extremely early stage in their development process they'd be thrilled to talk to people capable to seeding a project simply to build their expertise and their understanding of the issues they will face when they go out and seek seed for their (rather cool) media project.

Did you ever get a hold of this list? I think that this is a great idea and I'd like to start targeting some of the private/individual investors across the country.
