Growth in Genealogy Traffic
June 10th, 2005According to Comscore Media Metrix Ancestry Sites experienced a 38% increase in traffic in March 2005. The category (which is dominated by MyFamily.com's web sites) had 12.6 million unique visitors in March.

Any idea as to why (beyond the referenced articles thin explanation that they were just trying harder...)?
Were they doing anything new in particular?

Was the increase due to more people doing genealogy? Or is it a matter that they now found the "Ancestry Sites"? Or that they decided such sites are now more valuable (for whatever reason)? Just what are the "Ancestry Sites"? Anything you could find by googling "ancestry," "genealogy," or "family" or a select few?
